How Scrip works
One easy way to raise funds for your student’s annual contribution or any related Unit expenses is through the purchase of Scrip. The money earned carries over from year to year and can be used at any time, or carried over to a sibling who joins WHEU. After a student graduates, any unused funds will be turned over to the WHEUPA general fund, unless they are transferred to a sibling.
What is Scrip?
Scrip is just another way to pay for everyday purchases using gift cards in place of cash, checks, and credit cards. You purchase gift cards at face value on-line at www.shopwithscrip.com. WHEUPA receives a percentage of the purchase price of each card, between 1% and 10%. This amount is credited toward your student. It’s really that simple! Please note, there is 10% administrative fee for all scrip transactions.
When you use scrip gift cards at your favorite retailers, you’re fundraising while you shop. ShopWithScrip offers over 300 of the country’s biggest brands, including grocery, department stores, gas stations, restaurants, hotels, home improvement, and more. Just by using scrip to pay for your normal weekly purchases, you can easily raise $500 or more per year. Friends and relatives can also sign up; just let us know their name and whom the money should be credited to. It’s time to put your shopping dollars to work!
Once you sign up to use PrestoPay (ShopWithScrip’s electronic payment system), you can then print many gift cards from your home computer within minutes or reload cards within 24 hours. You will be charged a small service fee of $0.15 per order for using PrestoPay. You can purchase gift cards without signing up for PrestoPay. You will have to make arrangements with the Scrip Coordinator to pay by check. This may delay your order and you will not be able to reload cards or print gift cards at home.
To get started, all you need to do is follow the instructions below to set up an account. Scrip orders are typically due by the 1st Sunday of each month. Once the Scrip Coordinator receives your gift cards, you will be contacted to make arrangements for delivery.
To register for a scrip account:
- Go to www.shopwithscrip.com.

Once you have signed up for Scrip, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org. Once we receive your email, we can make sure your student is being properly credited for purchases made through these programs.
PrestoPay – ShopWithScrip.com Electronic Payment System
WHEUPA families purchasing Scrip are being asked to use PrestoPay, the ShopWithScrip.com electronic payment system. This convenient, broadly used, electronic payment method allows families to pay for Scrip orders online. There is no need for you to make a special trip to drop off a check. This service also allows families to use the ScripNow and reload portions of the Scrip program. PrestoPay uses the same system used for direct deposit of paychecks. All transmissions are sent via secure data links, and the data is encrypted before sending. When you pay using PrestoPay, your scrip order payment is transferred automatically from your checking account to ShopwithScrip. At no time will anyone at Shopwithscrip or WHEUPA have access to your checking account information.
To sign up for this feature, visit the PrestoPay area at ShopWithScrip.com and follow the instructions to enter your checking account information and click “Next”. After verifying your banking information, Great Lakes Scrip Center, (GLSC – the company who runs Shopwithscrip.com) will make two small deposits INTO your bank account. Take note of both amounts and return to your account at ShopWithScrip.com. Notice the message at the top of your screen, “Your PrestoPay
Account has not been verified. Click here to verify.” Enter the amounts deposited into your bank account by GLSC and click “Next” to complete the enrollment process. You will then receive a verification code via e-mail. Please send that code to the Scrip Coordinator at email@example.com. Once you receive a confirmation email from the Scrip Coordinator you will then be able to use PrestoPay to pay for all your Scrip needs.
It does take several days to complete this process, so please plan ahead. You will not be able use PrestoPay to pay for Scrip until you receive the confirmation email.
eScrip is another way to raise funds to help pay for your student’s Unit expenses. Participating businesses contribute a small percentage of your grocery loyalty cards, credit card and debit/ATM card purchases to WHEUPA. WHEUPA will credit any funds earned to your student’s account. The money earned carries over from year to year and can be used at any time, or carried over to a sibling who joins WHEU. After a student graduates, any unused funds will be turned over to the WHEUPA general fund, unless they are transferred to a sibling. Friends and relatives can also sign up, just let us know their name and whom the money should be credited to.
